Maddon reacts to Ben Zobrist's divorce news

by - Senior Editor -

Cubs veteran Ben Zobrist is currently on indefinite leave with the Cubs since last Wednesday.

News broke today that the Ben and Julianne Zobrist filed divorce paperwork in separate courts to end their marriage that had lasted since 2005.

Ben filed for divorce in Williamson County in Tennessee on Wednesday, alleging she "has been guilty of inappropriate marital conduct, which rendered further cohabitation impossible.”

Cubs manager Joe Maddon was asked about the divorce news before Wednesday's game against the Reds.

“I feel for him. Having gone through that process myself, it’s no fun," Maddon said to reporters. "For him to do it under these circumstances, we’re going to respect his privacy. There is no timeline involved. He’ll let us know.”

CubsHQ would like to wish Ben, his wife Julianna, and their three children the best as they deal with this very stressful time in their lives. Baseball is secondary to any family concerns.
