Montero says goodbye to all of his Chicago fans

by - Senior Editor -

Chicago Cubs backup catcher Miguel Montero was designated for assignment on Wednesday after he made some comments about Jake Arrieta not helping him as the Nationals stole seven bases last night.

"It really sucked, because the stolen bases go on me," Montero said. "But when you really look at it, the pitcher doesn’t give me any time, so yeah, ‘Miggy can’t throw anyone out,’ but my pitchers don’t hold anyone on."

In 2017, Montero is batting .286 with four homers and eight RBI. Defensively, he didn't throw out a baserunner the entire season going a horrific 0-for-31.

Montero said goodbye to his Cubs fans via Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.

To the city of Chicago:

Dear fans, today I say goodbye to the greatest fans. I want to thank you for the support. It was an awesome ride. Winning the World Series was simply fantastic. Thank you to my teammates - good luck to everyone of you. Thank you also to each staff member, it was an honor to play for the Chicago Cubs organization.

Chicago will always be in my heart.

#WeAreGood

Miguel Montero
