Jorge Soler says goodbye to Cubs fans after trade |
The Chicago Cubs are in the middle of the Winter Meetings on Wednesday morning and agreed to trade outfielder Jorge Soler for Royals closer Wade Davis.
Soler tweeted the following touching message to the City of Chicago and Cubs fans. "Thank you Cubs, the amazing fans, the city of Chicago & my teammates," Soler tweeted minutes after hearing the trade news. "World Series Champs baby! So many memories I'll cherish forever." Soler batted .238 with 12 homers, 31 RBIs, .769 OPS and an on-base percentage of .333 on the season in 86 games. During the postseason, he had only two hits with 13 at-bats and three walks. For his career, he is a .258 hitter with 35 doubles, two triples and 27 home runs. Soler will fit well in the American League with his tape-measure homers at the DH position and his decent right field ability. The Royals will have him under contract for four more seasons for $15 million total. Thank you @Cubs #thankyou #fans #Solerpower pic.twitter.com/6SONR5lAxX
