Brandon Morrow sidelined with injury

by - Senior Editor -

Not ideal news for an injury-prone pitcher trying to make a roster spot.

Chicago Cubs veteran reliever Brandon Morrow will not be pitching for at least a few days (decrease his workload) because of a 'mild right upper chest strain' according to Cubs officials.

Morrow reportedly felt the strain in his last bullpen session and is listed officially as 'day to day.'

However, there is no timetable for his immediate return according to Cubs insider Jordan Bastian.

Hopefully, he can get fully healthy and show the Cubs some electric stuff in 2020.

His contract will pay him $1 million if he makes it on the major league roster with a modest $1.25 million in potential incentives if he pitches in 65 games.

Morrow hasn't pitched in a major league game since July 2018 when he had 22 saves and a sparkling 1.47 ERA that season.
