Report: Arrieta agrees to contract with Cubs

The Cubs and ace pitcher Jake Arrieta avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract worth $15.6375 million on Friday according to MLB insider Jon Heyman.

Arrieta was 18-8 with a 3.10 ERA with 190 strikeouts and 1.08 WHIP on the season. For his career, he is 74-46 with 3.58 ERA with 907 strikeouts, and 1.16 WHIP.

He will be a free agent after the 2017 season.
