Report: Fowler, Blue Jays $3 million off on salary

by - Senior Editor -

The Chicago Cubs won the World Series for the first time since 1908 and one of the pivotal players was centerfielder Dexter Fowler.

Fowler turned down the Cubs 17.2 million qualifying one year offer as he is looking for a long-term contract in free agency.

The people in Fowler's camp want a reported long-term deal that averages around $18 million per year.

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman the Blue Jays have offered him a four-year contract worth $60 million which means that both sides are around three million per season from an agreement.

He batted .276 with 13 homers, 48 RBIs, and 13 steals this season and was named to his first National League All-Star team this past season. For his career, he batted .268 with 78 homers and 339 RBIs.
