WATCH: Christopher Morel, Wilson Contreras embrace each other in pregame

Chicago Cubs utility player Christopher Morel had a heartwarming reunion with former teammate and mentor Willson Contreras on Monday at Wrigley Field.

Contreras, who signed with the rival St. Louis Cardinals in the offseason, made his first return to Wrigley Field since the move.

Meanwhile, Morel was back with the Cubs for the first time this season after starting the year with the Iowa Cubs.

In a heartwarming moment captured on camera, Morel spotted Contreras during pregame warmups and immediately went in for a hug, much to Contreras' surprise and delight.

Contreras was a mentor figure for Morel during his rookie season with the Cubs, and it's clear that the two share a special bond that transcends team allegiances.

It's always nice to see former teammates show each other love and respect, even when they're playing for rival teams.

Moments like this remind us that baseball is more than just a game, but a community that brings people together.
