CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today selected right-handed pitcher Hunter Bigge from Triple-A Iowa and placed RHP Colten Brewer on the 60-day injured list with a left hand fracture.
Bigge, 26, is 1-0 with a 0.77 ERA (1 ER/11.2 IP) in 11 games with Triple-A Iowa this season. He is holding hitters to a .054 batting average (2-for-37) and is a perfect six-for-six in save opportunities. He is set to make his major league debut with his first Cubs appearance. Originally drafted by the Cubs in the 12th round of the 2019 Draft out of Harvard University, Bigge is in his fourth season in the Cubs organization. Brewer owns a 5.66 ERA (16 ER/20.2 IP) with one save in 16 relief appearances this season with the Cubs. The Cubs play the Los Angeles Angels at Wrigley Field today at 1:20 p.m. CT in a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 670 the Score and WRTO 1200.
