The COVID-19 pandemic has been terrible throughout the world as several countries are still are battling to contain the virus.

However, in the United States, several vaccines are now available as the country tries to vaccine as many people as possible to get above the 50 percent threshold.

During Friday's appearance on ESPN 1000's Kaplan and Hood, Cubs star first baseman Anthony Rizzo publicly stated that he decided against getting the vaccine.

"There's so much more to everyone's individual story," Rizzo said. "It's on them. It's on their family. It's a big decision for them and their family.

"It's case by case, and we have respectful discussions about it, just like we do with everything else that comes up during the year."

The Cubs are currently having to follow COVID-19 protocols because they haven't passed the 85 percent vaccinated threshold mandated by major league baseball that would allow relaxed restrictions.
