MILWAUKEE – The Chicago Cubs today activated right-handed pitcher Tyler Chatwood and left-handed pitcher Brian Duensing off of the 10-day disabled list. Chicago’s active roster now stands at 32 players.

Both Chatwood and Duensing will be available for the Cubs this afternoon when they begin their three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park.

Chatwood, 28, is 4-6 with a 5.22 ERA (59 ER/101.2 IP) in 23 appearances, 20 starts, for the Cubs this season. He was placed on the 10-day disabled list on August 23 (retro to August 20) and made a pair of rehab starts with Iowa as part of his return, going 0-1 with a 9.45 ERA (7 ER/6.2 IP) in the two starts, including a 2.1-inning stint yesterday vs. Round Rock.

Duensing, 35, is 3-0 with one save and a 7.34 ERA (28 ER/34.1 IP) in 43 relief appearances with the Cubs this season. He was placed on the 10-day disabled list on August 3 and made five rehab appearances with Iowa as part of his return, going 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA (4 ER/5.2 IP) in those outings. He owned a 0.54 ERA (1 ER/16.2 IP) in his first 23 outings through May 27 before allowing 19 earned runs in his next 9.1 innings covering 12 relief outings and being placed on the disabled list for the first time on July 1. He returned July 13 but was back on the D.L. a few weeks later.
