Bears RB carted off field after suffering injury |
This is not good news to report.
Chicago Bears starting running back David Montgomery suffered a non-contact injury during Wednesday's practice and had to be carted off the field. The Chicago Sun-Times had the following information on how the injury happened. "The Bears worked on run plays against no defense when Montgomery took a handoff, ran to the left and appeared to slip on the grass," they reported. "He tried to get up and fell again, then was unable to put weight on his left leg." Head coach Matt Nagy said during his media session that Montgomery has a groin strain and does not know the severity. Montgomery had 242 rushes for 889 yards and six touchdowns last season. #Bears RB David Montgomery slipped and has a groin injury. On #Bears RB David Montgomery, I'm told team doesn't believe the injury he suffered today is to his knee.
Montgomery appeared to be in a lot of pain. I’d rank him pretty high among both the most irreplaceable (in-house) Bears and players who have looked the best in camp.
Regarding CHI ... hoping for the best with David Montgomery. Would be a massive blow to that offense if he were to miss significant time. If he were, it would mean an likely increase in touches for Tarik Cohen but you know who would see a big uptick? Cordarrelle Patterson.
