Brandon Morrow sidelined with new injury |
Veteran Cubs reliever Brandon Morrow is trying to make one of the final roster spots for 2020.
Unfortunately, he can't get 100 percent healthy as the guy just can't catch a break with his body. Morrow had an MRI on Friday and has a mild tear in his calf (grade 1) and will be out roughly 10-14 days according to The Athletic's Sahadev Sharma. Earlier in spring training, he had a 'mild right upper chest strain' that sidelined him for a few days. Hopefully, he can rest up, probably go down the minors and eventually help out the big league club at some point this season. His contract will pay him $1 million if he makes it on the major league roster with a modest $1.25 million in potential incentives if he pitches in 65 games. Morrow hasn't pitched in a major league game since July 2018 when he had 22 saves and a sparkling 1.47 ERA that season.
