Miguel Montero injury update

Tony Crumpton Tony Crumpton  ·  Senior Editor ·

Chicago Cubs catcher Miguel Montero has been experiencing back pain and the Cubs are waiting to see if it gets better so he can play in the National League Championship Series according to multiple reports.

Montero is batting .216 with 8 homers, 33 RBIs and a .327 on-base percentage this season. For his career, he is batting .259 with 120 homers and 534 RBIs.

If he can not go, the Cubs will likely add a 12th pitcher for extra bullpen help. The Cubs will still be in great position at catcher with veteran David Ross and rookie phenom Willson Contreras.
