Cubs Corner with David Haugh: Winter Meetings, Offseason moves, Predictions, more

by - Staff Writer -

On this edition of the Cubs Corner, presented by Coach’s Bar and Grill, Anthony welcomes special guest, 670 The Score's own David Haugh, to talk about the Winter Meetings and more.

*Coach’s Bar and Grill is located at 6169 N Northwest Highway on the Northwest Side of Chicago and is open for business this fall. Check out their website or Facebook page for deals during bears games and more.*

The pair began the conversation by talking about the big moves of the offseason so far, Trea Turner to the Phillies, Jacob deGrom to the Rangers, Justin Verlander to the Mets, and Jose Abreu to the Astros.

Then, they chatted about the Cubs' holes at catcher, centerfield, and first base, which could be filled by Sean Murphy, Christian Vasquez, Cody Bellinger, Kevin Kiermaier, Josh Bell, and Trey Mancini.

The two also broke down the players left in the shortstop market, and how it is imperative that the Cubs sign Dansby Swanson, Xander Bogaerts or Carlos Correa — especially since the Cubs have reportedly gotten the green light from ownership to spend.

Haugh also gave his thoughts on who the Cubs will sign if Nico Hoerner or Ian Happ will get extended, and his prediction for a win total for the 2023 Cubs.

That and more on this edition of the Cubs Corner, available on Apple Podcasts and Soundcloud.
