Cubs sign 28 players for 2024 contracts

by -

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today announced the following roster moves for Friday, November 17, in conjunction with today’s deadline to tender/non-tender 2024 contracts for unsigned players on their 40-man roster.

The Cubs have agreed to terms on a 2024 contract with Patrick Wisdom, thus avoiding salary arbitration with him. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Six arbitration-eligible players have been tendered 2024 contracts: Adbert Alzolay, Mark Leiter Jr., Nick Madrigal, Julian Merryweather, Justin Steele and Mike Tauchman. Overall, a total of 28 players from the Cubs 40-man roster were tendered 2024 contracts today – the six arbitration-eligible players listed above and 22 players not yet eligible for arbitration.

The Cubs have non-tendered three players: right-handed pitcher Codi Heuer, who was arbitration eligible, as well as left-handed pitcher Brandon Hughes and right-handed pitcher Ethan Roberts, both of whom were not yet eligible for arbitration.

The Cubs 40-man roster now stands at 37.
